Have you ever really stopped to think of what it means to be adopted into God’s family?
Fully members of God’s family. Once we have been adopted, we have a new family, we are fully accepted and given all the rights of a biological child. We gain a new identity and a new inheritance.
But recently while I was reading- I Surrender All by Priscilla Shirer- I was struck with a reality I had never thought of. If a child is adopted out of the foster care system, the legal relationship with the biological family has been terminated. The old family no longer has access to the child.
Truly a new identity has been unlocked.
A new life has been opened.
The old has no access to the new!
Now think about your spiritual adoption into the Family of God. Once you accept Jesus, you are a child of God!
And the old life, your sinful life, no longer has a hold on you. It only has the access you allow it. And with the Holy Spirit’s help, you can limit that access.
Live in freedom of as a child of God! You have a new identity, a new family, and an inheritance!
The old is gone, the new has come.
