My family has become bird watchers. Last month the kids were playing in the back yard, and we heard a very distinct bird call. So, the girls and I followed the sound to a beautiful, red cardinal perched on a tree outside our St. Louis home.
When my husband and I told them we were moving, one of my girls adorably asked if the new house will have birds.
The first day they came to the house, they saw a black-capped chickadee. To our amazement, we learned this bird had a made a nest in the post of our deck. The kids got a kick out of watching those two birds fly in and out of the hole. We soon learned there were two eggs in that nest.
However, yesterday we realized the birds hadn’t been around. They abandoned their nest.
As I walked outside this morning and sadly looked down the hole, I felt God speak to my heart, “I will not abandon you.”
Then Isaiah 49:15 came to me, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she my forget, I will not forget you!”
My friends, God is a good Father who will not abandon or forsake you. He is with you always! Rest in that promise!
