I just watched Disney’s Onward with my kids. My husband had already watched it and said it was REALLY good! So, of course I had to too.

Well, not even five minutes into the movie, I was crying. And the tears really only slowed down in the middle of the movie. I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone, so I am keeping this very vague and I know that.

Well, climax of the movie, when everything was spiraling and a huge scene began to take place and my five-year-old said to me, “Mom, I’m scared.”

Well, I’m crying… still… again… not sure which one. I said, “It’s gonna be alright honey.”

“How do you know, mommy? You’ve never seen this movie?”

“You’re right I haven’t, but I know Disney,” I said. And that was satisfying enough. We all continued to watch the movie as I bawled like a baby.

After the movie, I sat and thought about that statement. I really had no idea how that movie would end. But I knew that Disney makes family movies with satisfying endings. And that was enough for me to tell me daughter, it’s going to work out just fine. I trusted the creators of the movie because they consistently provide satisfying movies in which good triumphs.

Yet, in the midst of my storms I have trouble trusting MY Creator. I may say, “It’s going to be alright because I know the One who is in control,” but do I believe it?

Do I have more faith in Disney than God?

What would it take to trust God with the ending? The middle? The beginning?

I believe the answer is consistently seeing Him in all things. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Heart posture is HUGE! Rejoice! Be thankful! Even when your heart is hurting. When you look for His activity, you see it. When you seek Him, you will find Him.

We are currently experiencing a storm across this world known as COVID-19. As this storm goes on, I encourage you to cling tight to the Creator. No, he did not create this storm, but He is allowing it.

Bad things may happen. The world is shaking. Uncertainty appears to be certain.  But our God is consistent. Never changing. Trust Him with the ending of this chapter.

While I hate that this Easter I do not get to go to Church and worship with the body of believers, I know God is doing good things through this. Social distancing cannot and will not stop the celebration of VICTORY FOUND IN CHRIST JESUS!

Yes, we may not know the end of this chapter, but we do know the end- Jesus won! We can trust God with this storm, the next storm, and all future ones too! Jesus already defeated the grave! He already has the VICTORY!
